Former Florida Congressman and Attorney General to strengthen AML’s growth strategy with
experience in finance, international commerce, and state and federal law and regulations.
Palm Bay, Florida – Advanced Magnet Lab, Inc. (AML) announced today the appointment of former US Congressman and Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum to the company’s board of directors.
AML Chairman and President Mark Senti stated that McCollum’s addition to the board will help advance the company’s ambitious growth plans as the industry leader in superconductivity and innovative magnet based solutions for energy, medical, defense and aerospace. “Bill comes to the table with a wealth of knowledge and relationships in a range of critical areas, including international trade, governmental policies and regulations.” said Senti, “His national and Florida State public service, combined with his experience as a board member for both private and public sectors, strengthens AML’s board at a pivotal point in the company’s evolution. He’ll be a valuable key team member as we pursue significant growth with our multifaceted business model, especially as we engage global partners for licensing and joint ventures.”
McCollum is currently a partner at Dentons–one of the world’s largest multinational law firms. He maintains a keen interest in his native Florida as a long-time champion of the state’s growth as a haven for businesses that develop clean technology, especially technology that has positive social impact. “I’m excited and proud to be a part AML’s leadership.” said McCollum, “This is a company whose vision and innovations have the potential of transforming everything from energy production to space exploration, and it’s making Florida an even stronger gateway to a wide range of international markets.”
A Central Florida native, he served as Florida’s Attorney General from 2007 to 2011, where he addressed issues ranging from consumer protection to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Prior to his term as Attorney General, McCollum was a ten-term US Congressman, serving on the Judiciary, Banking and Intelligence committees, chaired subcommittees on Judiciary and Intelligence and served as Vice Chairman of the Banking Committee. He earned his Bachelor’s and Law degrees from the University of Florida. Early in his career, he practiced with a Florida firm specializing in insurance defense and was in the Navy Judge Advocate Generals Corps. He is a retired commander in the United States Naval Reserves, where he served for 23 years.
